Artist Statement

I’d like to invite you into the world of brain. My dances are largely influenced by my dancers and their organic reactions to this world I am creating.  The central focus of my work and explorations is the femininity in humans, male or female.  The subtle nuances, difference and similaritites between the male and female body intrigues me to no end.  I also enjoy choreographing movement that can be manipulated according to the dancers outlook to the prompt given.  There is something about letting my dancers be “themselves” that speaks to my choreographic process.  Stripping away the facade to uncover the true essence of the individual.  I tend to work with scenario based improvisation sessions where I begin to extract the excellence and soul of my dancers.  When building a work I tend to employ methods such as repetition, embellishment and “deconstruction” of set movement phrases allowing the dancers pick their own method.  As I create this world I willingly invite you in and dare you to want to leave.
